Effects of stress are not limited to our bodies. Perhaps our minds suffer even more as they change themselves from solution finders into sources of stressful thoughts. Yes, one of common causes of stress is the so-called mental stress coming from lack of ability to focus, short concentration period and feeling of weakness and lack of will to do anything.
Even worse than that, stress gets also into our feelings. We can be overcome with any feeling ranging from anger and sadness to panic with no prior warning. This makes living and especially solving the problem you have extremely difficult as such mood changes make you extremely vulnerable and prevent you from handling many issues in your lives much harder.
What is worse, mental stress will sooner or later cause also physiological problems, just as any kind of stress does. What starts from aching muscles often ends in severe illnesses unless you start coping with your problems instead of avoiding them.
Oftentimes physical effects of mental stress will help form an vicious circle, because they start to cause more mental problems. If you feel extremely tired, you may refuse to get out of the bed in the morning. This will cause you feel lazy and certainly increase your stress at work (when you finally get there) and impede your family function. This will make you feel down and stressed about your own behavior which in turn result in more physical problems. If you feel like this, you have to find some external help – quickly.
If you do nothing to cope with stress and let it grow, after a few years you will notice that your physical and mental condition will have gone to pieces. Heart diseases, obesity, muscle problems, arthritis, depression all of those conditions are likely to show up if you don\’t stop your stress now. If you choose to do nothing, you risk death whether due to your medical condition or a suicide attempt out of depression. This is a \”do or die situation\”.
The major problem with stress is that most people under stress try to solve their problems all by themselves, without any external support. They try and try, but most of them fail because of the stress they feel and the decreased ability to solve problems that is the primary mental stress result. Remember, there is no shame in asking for help. Even more, such call is a proof that you are still thinking clearly and do your best to solve your problems. If you try to do it alone, you will be pitied. If you ask for help, you will be revered. It\’s as simple as that.
